Bengals cats are still rare, particularly in Russia.

People familiar with the bengals cat mostly hearsay, treat them warily and often ask questions like, "and how it is - the owner will not eat something?" At the same time, the owners of Bengals cat often show signs of insanity for their pets, sometimes reaching up to bigotry . Such a range of views is not surprising, then rock-and indeed unique, because it arose as a result of deliberate breeding of wild Asian leopard cat (Felis Bengalensis or ALC) with domestic cats.

Project "Bengals Cat"

The general idea of  the author of this unusual project, American biologist Jane Mill was the fact that people may cease to promote the barbaric destruction of a small forest predator, if it becomes associated with their pet. In addition, she wanted people to be able to finally get the animal, which, being gentle and tame, in many respects would resemble a typical inhabitant of the jungle(means Bengals cat). Usually young, resulting from interspecific crosses, completely sterile. However, surprisingly, in this case, the experiment was successful. The male hybrids of the first three generations of ALC were sterile, but females from mating with further with domestic cats was to obtain offspring that can reproduce.

Every purebred Bengals cat kitten carries the genes of their ancestors leopard. Due to this fact cats Bengal breed has some very unique features, such as love for the game in the water, charming plastic movements, particularly the structure of the head (so-called "wild" type ") and, of course, fantastically beautiful color.
